MD NARAL PAC announces support for pro-choice candidates for delegates in Baltimore County

(Baltimore, MD) NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland Political Action Committee has announced its support for candidates seeking delegate positions representing Baltimore County in the Maryland General Assembly, replacing Delegates Eric Bromwell (D8) and Stephen Lafferty (D42A), each who had been endorsed by the PAC in previous election cycles. After meeting with each candidate, the PAC is giving a 100% Pro-Choice Rating to one candidate seeking the seat in D8, Carl Jackson, and two candidates seeking the one seat in 42A, Henry Callegary and Jessica Klaitman. It is anticipated that The Baltimore County Democratic Central Committee will be select final candidates the evening of Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

Mark Stover, Chair of NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland PAC, stated, “Our 100% Pro-Choice Ratings reflect candidates who are willing to proudly stand and fight to protect and advance reproductive health, rights, and justice in our state. Longstanding voters in Maryland understand the importance of remaining vigilant in keeping a pro-choice majority in our legislature, and younger voters are looking to see a commitment to ensuring that they are able to freely choose if, when, and how they form their families.”

Diana Philip, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland, stated: “Marylanders often overlook the role of central committees when making appointments for delegates. In a time when threats to reproductive rights are on the rise, it is important that we help identify candidates for the Maryland General Assembly who are committed to strong, pro-choice values.”

NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland is a statewide member organization that works to defend, expand, and protect reproductive freedom for all Marylanders. It is the leading grassroots pro-choice advocacy organization in Maryland that strives to ensure that every child-bearing individual is able to make personal decisions about the full range of reproductive health options including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion.
