Joanna joined the NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland intern team in the summer of 2019 when she was a senior at Towson University getting her undergraduate degree in Political Science with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. During the fall of 2019, Joanna created the ReproHotline of Towson, a peer to peer emergency contraception distribution network. In the span of three months, over 70 packets of emergency contraception were delivered by a network of 30 volunteers, cost and stigma free. She has expanded the network to include the distribution of free pregnancy tests and condoms. By creating the ReproHotline of Towson, Joanna realized that she is most passionate about increasing accessibility to sexual and reproductive rights at universities and for marginalized communities. After graduating form Towson in December, she continued volunteer work with emergency contraception access and providing communications support to the staff for NPCM. In March, 2020, Joanna joined the staff as a Outreach and Communications Associate, and began full time in October as the Communications and Outreach Manager.
