She has been a part of our team for two years now. In high school, Usma worked at Planned Parenthood of Maryland for two years, serving as a Peer Educator. She conducted monthly teen talks on various sexual health topics as well as assisting in the clinic on Teen Nights, conducting short surveys, doing condom demonstrations, and answering any pre-appointment questions that the patients had. In the summer 2016, she interned at the Department of Defense where she had the opportunity to meet former Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter. She worked in the Civilian Personnel Policy Department, exploring the creation of a new program called Force of the Future. Usma hopes one day to work as an advocate for victims domestic violence and marginalized women seeking affordable and accessible healthcare.
