We are honoring Amy Hagstrom Miller, CEO of Whole Woman’s Health of Baltimore, as the 2019 Choice Advocate of the Year, for her courageous leadership in using the court system and other advocacy strategies to protect reproductive rights on behalf of abortion care providers throughout the country.
This year’s Choice Advocate Team of the Year, are legislators and advocates who worked tirelessly for the passage of Maryland laws to prohibit the forced solitary confinement of pregnant inmates and juveniles in all types of facilities across the state. Awardees include: Senator Susan C. Lee (D16); Delegate Wanika Fisher (47B); Delegate Delegate Jazz Lewis (D24); Toni Holness, ACLU of Maryland; Munib Lohsrabi, Disability Rights Maryland; and the Baltimore Doula Project. Eliminating forced restrictive housing of pregnant and post-pregnant inmates and detainees was a priority bill for the coalition, Reproductive Justice Inside, and became the first law of its in kind in the nation.
