Marian joined NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland in fall 2020 as a senior at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a Women’s Studies major with a focus in Black women’s studies, disability and health justice. Marian’s research interests include the intersection of eugenics and reproductive coercion in the United States. In summer 2020, Marian joined the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA) as a Program Intern. During her internship with MCASA, she researched and produced articles on the intersections of disability, health and racial justice including, “Disability and Sexual Abuse During the Pandemic” and “Racial Justice Approaches to Sexual Violence Prevention and Response”. Marian also supported research around advocacy hotlines for incarcerated sexual assault survivors and resources for transgender incarcerated survivors. At UMD, she is actively involved in the Hate Bias Response Team Student Advisory Group where she serves on the Programming and Events subcommittee. In this internship with NARAL MD, Marian will work to support the Reproductive Justice Inside Initiative, advance the intersection of disability and reproductive justice and expand access to “Talking About Abortion in Challenging Spaces”.
