Olga is a new master’s degree in science graduate from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health. Her focus is on Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and she is pursuing a certificate in Health Advocacy. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Santa Clara University. Her previous work was as a Certified Medical Assistant in an OB-GYN clinic at Sutter Health in California, where she worked for 3 years providing hands on patient care and learned many of the intricacies of women’s clinical care. During this time, she also observed first-hand the barriers women face while accessing information related to their health, and the stigma and shame many women experience when seeking care. She hopes that this opportunity with Maryland NARAL will allow her to gain the skills necessary to advocate for expanding access to sexual and reproductive healthcare and education, and also to reduce the gender disparities and biases that exist within these settings.
