Rachel just finished her first year as a graduate student at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is pursuing a master’s degree in Public Health in Health Policy with a certificate in Health Advocacy.
Prior to her graduate program, she served as a Legislative and Advocacy Member for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon for several years where she planned and managed volunteer trainings, canvassed, and lobbied on behalf of Oregonians for expanded reproductive health care. During this time, Rachel learned the power of individual voice and involvement in state legislative processes when it comes to expanding health care access and coverage, particularly by assisting with the passage of Oregon House Bill 3391, the Reproductive Health Equity Act, which expanded who was eligible for state covered reproductive health coverage. After working to pass this bill, Rachel went on to work at a local Planned Parenthood clinic and became part of the team that worked to implement this bill into daily operations.
Rachel joined the intern team at NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland Fund as a summer 2021 Access Team Initiative intern. She is looking forward to expanding her organizing, communication, and advocacy skills in the context of reproductive access and abortion care across Maryland.
